Elena Posokhova is a Paris-based contemporary art curator with over ten years of experience in interdisciplinary projects that merge ecology, nature, culture and art across Europe.

In her practice, she explores the creative process that connects various artistic fields, practices, sectors, and disciplines while simultaneously interacting with natural and cultural landscapes. She raises the question of how creativity and context shape each other, focusing on coastal and island territories as resources of imagination. Her work encompasses collaborative experiences that intersect historical and contemporary issues of life organization, where artistic creativity becomes a tool for understanding and dialogue between territories.

Elena holds a master’s Master’s in Art & Vision (MAVI) , Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and is pursuing a doctorate at Visual Arts and Art Sciences Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, researching art, science, and sustainability.

MARLANDS

Maritima is a dynamic initiative uniting scientists, artists, organizations, and institutions to foster innovative artistic dialogues about the Mediterranean.

Recognized in 2021 as one of the 28 most sustainable and innovative initiatives by SDSN Youth Mediterranean (aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals), the project was featured on page 27 of their report. This honor celebrates youth-led efforts across the Mediterranean's culturally and politically diverse landscape, highlighting their pivotal role in shaping the region's future.

Maritima's selected works explore the Mediterranean's rich histories, migration flows, and cultural exchanges while engaging with its unique natural environment. The sea is envisioned as a living, dynamic entity with its own intricate "inner world," home to species that remain underexplored or critically endangered.

Rooted in the region, Maritima connects the scientific study and protection of this extraordinary marine ecosystem with artistic creativity. Together, they address themes of transformation, interconnection, and sustainability.

MARLANDS is a cultural interdisciplinary initiative aimed at uniting Mediterranean islands through the exploration and preservation of their cultural heritage and ecosystems. Co-founded in 2022 by the Creative Europe program of the European Union, the project fosters collaboration among artists, researchers, and cultural figures to create unique artworks that address local culture and ecological challenges. By documenting cultural heritage and promoting sustainable practices, MARLANDS2 helps communities adapt to climate change and strengthens international relations between islands and urban cultural centers.

The initiative focuses on the cultural significance of each island, particularly in relation to the sea, and culminates in a showcase of island creativity in cities such as Paris, Barcelona, Athens, and Valencia. By connecting island heritage with urban modernity, MARLANDS2 enriches cultural programs, preserves the uniqueness of these areas, and addresses their isolation. Collaborating with locals, scientists, and cultural institutions in Malta, Sicily, Mallorca, Cyprus, and Corsica, MARLANDS aims to bridge the gap between culture and nature, nurturing sustainable creative processes and enhancing visibility across Europe.
