The Archipelago as a Space for New Perspectives for Contemporary Artists and Curators
My current research focuses on the relationship between space, perception, and the imagination, using the example of an island, where contextual conditions become artistic material and language. The focus is on the genesis of the imagination sparked by the place, and on how art, through symbolism and form, captures the distinct otherness of each territory, revealing the value of this diversity.
Through a cartographic method, territorial connections are highlighted, and a system of relationships is constructed in the form of an archipelago—comprising real and imaginary islands, as well as the artistic works and projects associated with them. The research seeks to understand how, through these connections, artworks, practices, and ideas enter into dialogue with one another, revealing both their differences and what they have in common.
